Foresters Memories

Financial support from Foresters has helped Children’s Home Society & Family Services reach hundreds of individuals and families through home ownership education workshops and financial counseling sessions. In 2008 alone, CHSFS helped 798 clients learn about home ownership, mortgages, credit ratings, budgets and more. Financial difficulties can cause parents tremendous stress, which in turn can lead to child abuse and neglect or domestic violence. Every day at Children's Home Society & Family Services, our staff works with people who are struggling financially and in many other ways. With assistance from Foresters, CHSFS helps parents stabilize their finances, which then allows them to address other barriers to their success. With Foresters on board, CHSFS can educate more people and create more financially fit families. Foresters’ commitment to helping families succeed is evident in everything they do! Thank you so much!

When I was asked to take on the role of Branch President I felt it was the perfect opportunity for me to give back to an organization that has given my family so much over the years. Through this new role, I am able to help both my children and our members realize the rewards involved with helping others.

Foresters knows how important family is and has proven once again how they are a ‘different’ kind of insurance carrier. Bridget is a Foresters member and while she and her husband were on a business trip out of state (both are NAA associates), their house completely burned down. Thankfully their family was safe. To help them through this difficult time, Foresters provided benevolent funds for which they are grateful.

On a trip to Toronto, a Foresters member lost her daughter in a serious auto accident and her husband died a few weeks later as a result of his injuries. Judy was left alone, far from home and hospitalized. When asked if she knew anyone in Toronto, Judy replied, ‘I have insurance with Foresters.’ The hospital contacted Foresters. An employee visited with Judy and took up a collection so she could travel home.

From the very beginning, our dream at Children's Miracle Network was to help all children everywhere. Radiothon has helped us get there, and Foresters is helping us make it happen. I'd like to express my heartfelt thanks to each of you for your compassion, generosity and vision. Whether by supporting Radiothon, volunteering or participation in grassroots fundraising, your support of children's hospitals has helped injured kids throughout North America for 19 years. Because of the amazing growth of Radiothon, we are now international as children in the UK are receiving hope and miracles thanks to your efforts.

Radiothon is about communities coming together to give; Foresters members have certainly proved that they embody these values. Because of  you, millions of children around the world are living healthier and happier lives. I can't think of a better legacy to accompany your momentous anniversary. Thanks so much for all you do.

I am very proud to say that this is my 25th year being associated with Foresters in Southern California. Whether its been the smile on the widow's face when she realized she and her family would indeed be able to keep the house with life insurance proceeds or helping members rebuild after an earthquake or fire, I can personally attest to the fact that Foresters has always been there in time of need, unwavering. Congratulations on 135 years!

On behalf of Redemption Community Development Corporation (RCDC) and the Greenspoint community youth, I would like to personally thank you for selecting our site to build a community playground. We have been hoping for this playground for a long time! Words cannot adequately express how overjoyed we are and how much we deeply need this park. The vacant lot between the apartments and the mobile park homes has been a void in our community, but will now become a beacon light that invites children from the community to get involved in something positive that promotes wholesome family fun. Thank you!

Just wanted to let you know how much my family and I enjoyed working with the community of La Habra and their entire neighborhood this past Saturday at the KaBoom Project. As you know I have volunteered for many events and projects and I have to say this was absolutely one of the BEST. It is just unbelievable how it all came together. The gals from KaBoom (Danielle, Ariel & Allison) were excellent. They were helpful and understanding. They knew exactly what needed to be done and when it needed to be done by, and managed everyone very well. I commend them on an excellent job. They even kept my grandkids busy all day and made them really feel like they were just as important as everyone else. It is just amazing how that entire park, landscaping & decorating included could all be accomplished in less than 6 hours. My family has not stopped talking about how much fun it was, even though a few of us could barely move Saturday evening we would volunteer again in a heartbeat. Again thank you for giving us the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful event and we look forward to doing another one in the near future.

My sincere congratulations as you celebrate 135 years of exemplary service. When people in neighbourhoods work together, the community becomes stronger, healthier and safer. Your organization is distinguished for giving back, and I commend you for the funding efforts put forth and building a children's playground in the heart of Brampton.

A few weeks ago my 15 month old spent a few hours in the IWK emergency room due to his new found desire to climb out of his crib. At the end of the visit he was given a Build a Bear teddy (with an outfit with your company logo) for being so pleasant during the four hour visit. We recently visited the local Build A Bear Workshop at Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth with Ike the teddy and the cashier told us about the company's donation of the approx. 250 bears. I just wanted you to know that we are very thankful for your company's donation of the bears, seeing Benjamin hug and play with his new friend was the silver lining on a rather upsetting day. I can only imagine that the bears also cheer up other families who are visiting the emergency room as well. Please pass this email to the others that were involved with the bear donation as I feel that your company's community spirit should be recognized and applauded. Thank you.

Hi, my name is Cheri, I’m blessed to be an NAA agent out of Louisville, KY. Because of Foresters contributions to the Children’s Miracle Network and JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, my granddaughter’s life was saved. The Children’s Miracle Network contributes funds to Kosair’s Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky where she was admitted twice within a month. When admitted her sugar level was over 900. I don’t think she would have survived another day. The nurses, diabetic educators and dieticians worked together to educate us about diabetes so we would know how to treat and handle the day to day treatment and challenges we face and those that are yet to come. They gave us the supplies we needed to get started with her regimen. All the things she needs to control her diabetes are very expensive even though my son has good health insurance plan. My daughter Michelle and I created a video to share her story. It’s our way to help bring in contributions and spread awareness of juvenile diabetes. I’m sending it to you so you can see how Foresters touched us, just one of thousands like her. Thanks again I’m proud to be able to share the Foresters story with my clients.

Our Foresters branch just made a contribution to brighten Christmas for the 125 Children that are in foster care in our area. With the current economic situation and a reduction in local giving, this will boost the programs ability to help reach out to the children. I am a new member and agent. I was inspired when I saw the sharing that these "FORESTER'S" had made. This was a huge win for the children. -THANKS Brian M.  Foresters agent/member

My Dad bought life insurance policies for my siblings and myself when I was just a tot...so waaay back when(like 52 years). So I have been a Forester for a long time. Anyway my mother died when I was just 3 and with medical bills we had very little money and each summer it was such a joy to go to the annual Foresters picnic. There was games and free pop and an afternoon of sheer happiness. Those memories live with me still and bring a smile to my face. Thank you Court Douglas.

This year I did something different than I've done before. I helped build a playground in the city of La Habra. Knowing I would be undergoing open-heart surgery before the end of the year I was sure I could be of some help, and I was. Shortly after that fulfilling experience our branch had it's annual family picnic. This year the party was another day of fun-filled activities.Never a dull moment. Thanks, Jean.
